2012 Tony Awards Results

It’s over! The winners have been announced! After parties ran into the wee hours. So, how did I do with my predictions?

Best Play – Peter and the Starcatcher

“Clybourne Park” took the prize. I suppose another story about Peter Pan, even though it included over one hundred characters played by only a few actors, was not enough to outweigh the power of a racism story over 60 years.

Best Musical – Newsies
Book of a Musical – Newsies

“Once” took these. I was thinking a Disney production would take it. Maybe it didn’t win BECAUSE it was Disney. “Once” is in a sense a classic type story, but it’s “artsyness” probably gave it the edge.

Score – Bonnie and Clyde

“Newsies” won. I may be as surprised as you.

Play Revival – Death of a Salesman
Musical Revival – Porgy and Bess

I got these two right.

Scenic Design – Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark
Orchestration – Nice Work If You Can Get It

“Once” grabbed this these too. I’m not sure why except for it’s “artsyness”.

So I got two out of eight on this one.

Over all, on all my predictions, I got nine out of twenty-six. Either I’m not artsy enough, or I need to get out to NYC more often.

How accurate were your predictions?
